MFX has signed a contract to supply to Petrobras the subsea umbilicals and accessories for the offshore Libra field, located at Santos Basin, Brazil.
The scope of supply is for Libra EWT (Extended Well Testing) including 33 km of umbilicals for production and injection wells. All the umbilicals will be manufactured at MFX do Brasil facility, in Salvador. The deliveries are agreed to start on the second semester of 2016 and continue through the following year.
The Libra field is one of the biggest deep-water oil discoveries in the world and the largest pre-salt oil discovery to date in Brazil with estimated recoverable reserves between 8 and 12 billion barrels.
The umbilicals for this project have its structure with injection and hydraulic hoses and electrical cables, for static and dynamic application on water depth up to 2.500 meters, connecting the FPSO Pioneiro de Libra down to the subsea equipment. This umbilical structure is already qualified before Petrobras monitoring program and has also been supplied to the Pre-Salt Iracema and Lula fields.
